It is a scientific method for taking care of university students in all scientific, social, psychological and cultural aspects. It also means giving advice and advice to everyone who needs it.

Functions of the Unit:
1. Holding a meeting with the students at the beginning of each academic semester to identify the problems they face and to introduce the unit’s tasks.
2. Organizing meetings and forums related to academic advising for students and guides.
3. Provide the guides with departmental schedules, members' schedules, hall schedules, appointments and all information related to the student.
4. Organizing meetings and programs that support students in the field of academic advising.
5. Preparing guides, bulletins and advertisements related to academic advising.
6. Establishing a mechanism to receive and respond to students' complaints.
7. Preparing an annual report at the end of the year on the work of the unit.
8. Introducing the students to their mentors and the importance of the mentoring process.
Academic advisor functions:
1. Introducing the students to the university’s rules and regulations, especially with regard to the study and examination regulations, the study and transfers system.
2. Helping students to adapt to the specialization, especially the latest developments, and work to overcome the obstacles and problems they face.
3. Assisting the student in preparing the study schedule and the procedures for deletion, addition, postponement and apology.
4. Introducing the student to the cumulative average and explaining the reasons for its high and low, academic symbols and terms.
5. developing cultural and cognitive awareness among students.
6. Preparing a report at the end of the semester for the head of the Academic Advising Unit that includes a summary of work and proposals.
Academic Advising Programs Offered to Students and Counsellors:
It was divided into six areas:
1. Counseling Week Programs: They take place at the beginning of each semester and target new students, through which they are presented with an introduction to the academic, social and psychological counseling unit, and the university’s regulations and bylaws, and students’ rights and duties are presented.
2. General Academic Advising Programs: They are often presented in the theater or workshop halls and are conducted through a declared plan from the beginning of the semester and target students in general and faculty members.
3. Programs offered to academic guides.
4. A program offered to outstanding students.
5. Programs for the prevention and treatment of tripping.
6. Programs offered to strengthen students academically: each department determines them according to the needs of its students, and it is submitted internally and under the supervision of the department’s academic advising coordinator.
