Mission
Seeks to prepare graduates in various fields who are able to meet the needs of society, educational projects and small industrial projects, and are able to achieve competition locally and regionally. In line with the requirements of the labour market, through effective community participation. The department also pursue to develop faculty members competencies in using the best learning techniques in the educational process and promote scientific research system in line with the requirements of the labour market.
Objectives
The main task of the department is to serve the family and society to achieve development and provide a better life and seek to improve and promote home environmental conditions and health status through:
- Preparing graduates through an advanced education that is appropriate to work in the field of general education. This preparation is in an educational way that enables them to efficiently perform their task as teachers of family sciences and life skills courses through preparing them theoretically and practically.
- Providing the opportunity to student teachers for field training in schools and applying what they have studied in terms of teaching methods, plans and modern technical means.
- Preparing the Saudi citizen to be able to perform the duties of the Muslim woman as a wife, mother, and child-carer that is, to be the manager of all the family's resources. Conducting research in the field of home economics in its various branches.
- Encouraging handicrafts to find job opportunities for people appropriate talents in the field.
- Paying attention to small projects that are concerned with clothing, design, nutrition, and arts, to benefit from human energies for the development of the national economy.
- Designing specialized programs and activities for the students of the department to develop talents and manual skills.
- Organizing regular exhibitions for the works of the distinguished students of the department.
